In this intensive we will be studying clips and performances of masterful actors to understand their technique and choices, and build our acumen for detecting what within our own technique tool chest is being utilized by them, so we can integrate that kind of complexity and sophistication into our own work.

Intensives will be designed to study the work 10 artists, picked by the group over 2 days. We review a number of their clips, breakdown their technique choices, work through ways to integrate that into our own process with live practice of the scenes we have reviewed.

Find the global arc and inner pulse, drive, and heartbeat of the character, and weave tapestry of evolving needs and visceral wants based in the primal psychology of the relationships and stakes of the piece — investigate all the aspects and layers of the character and drop into the journey of the piece, as you bring an investigation of self to the process of that unfolding.

Through comprehensive subtext-focused script analysis and emotional connection work that honors your authentic self we plug into the most intense choices with intelligence and heart, allowing you go through a personal journey in the experience of that of the character.

Get to that pristine emotional and internally motivated place that allows deeply driven choices to make in the moment magic to happen, regardless of the unknowns and pressures of the set.

A quick anchor into the Bottom Line to rapidly focus you before an audition or performance. Maybe some direction was thrown your way and you have ten minutes to change everything, maybe you feel uncentered and confused by your choices. If fifteen minutes is all you need to get back on track, this is where you find it.

Your reel needs to tell a story. It is an opportunity to quickly get people to understand your range and essence. We review it and if need be edit it or create new material for it. We use it as an opportunity to explore choices and circumstances and to examine ways to shed what is not working in your work. The past is not always prologue… learn from it.

Intense scene work without the pressures and eyes of a class, focused exclusively on you. These intensives are designed to be intense and immersive — a serious focused work-out and a life-changing experience — not just about evolving your craft but evolving you and your life as an artist.

They are not for those not willing to go there; they are for those craving a dramatic shift in their work and a chance to question and push themselves amidst like-minded passionate artists.

Intensives are specialized for the group, but most combine a methodical overview of your technique, emotional release and "psychology of character" foundations, breath and voice work, script analysis technique, role preparation tools, and multiple genres of scene study to shape your craft specific to your goals.

While breaking down and re-building your process for analyzing and dropping into material, we play with concepts like defining character needs in terms of relationship, wound, secrets, subtext, and other components that create complex and compelling characters, in a no-nonsense nurturing process.

Move beyond superficial formulaic concepts and awaken your intuition, impulses, and intelligence synergistically and strategically to enhance the depth, spontaneity, fluidity, and truthfulness of your connections and choices in ways that empower your work.

My goal is to renew your confidence in being able to tackle difficult material with daring authenticity, resulting in inspiring and seamless performances.

While monthly classes are great muscle-builders and anchor you in ongoing practice, intensives are often more suitable for the working professional actor who can’t commit to a regular weekly class because the work schedule is always changing.

Two day seminar that is strictly about hardcore technique principles we as actors use every day, but which have become fuzzy or which are somehow not getting us there. We go through a rapid and focused, professional level, technique make-over. Your technique has to get you to the most gripping, daring, effective choices in auditions and on the job. We go over what you have been using, and give you a complete overview of all the technique principles to use in your work, while orienting you to re-think how you approach any technique component with a core value and prioritizing of authentic communicating and connection in every aspect of the technique — so you can be your own detective in future work.

Hit deeper emotion and honesty, and develop more thorough, rich, complex characters, while dismantling bad habits and blocks, because of this work.

Into opposites and complex script analysis choices. We also delve more intensely into the process of discovering the emotional core of the character by releasing your own emotional body and claiming more daring choices for the driving the action of the scene rooted in an emotional need that is both receptive to the moment and grounded in the most specific and visceral truth.

A weekly seminar where we break down performances of A-list actors we respect to develop an eye for their choices and better understand them, so we can watch craft for craft and infuse that craft into our own. Actors are encouraged to suggest clips they want to observe, or we select them for the group base don the dynamics and questions of the group about craft.

Convert all principles of authentic acting to film technique ready concrete tips for mastering the relationship to the camera, focused not only on shots and relationship to camera but the art of being seen and sending energy through the camera.
